“And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.” (John 4:37 KJV)

From his nametag, I saw he had a Muslim name. How would  I tell him about Jesus? I knew he was not ready to believe, but I had to tell him about the Son of God.

He was wearing a mask. I looked into his eyes. “What do you think of all this that is happening?”

His eyes looked dark and heavy. “I just follow the rules.”

“Do you have to wear that mask all day?”

He pulled on it a bit. With weary eyes, he said, “I have to wear it for eight hours.”

“I am so sorry. I know that must be hard.”

I asked him again, “What do you think of what is happening?”

“I really do not know.”

“Would you like for me to tell you what all this is about?”

“Yes.”

“All this is about Jesus coming again. He is the Son of God. This is a sign. There will be more signs because His return is near.”

“I don’t believe this.”

“Jesus is coming even if you do not believe this.”

I started to put the items in our cart. “This is not dependent on if you believe or not. It is the truth. If you read the Bible, you will learn that this is true. He is the only way to heaven.”

“I don’t read that.”

“Well, you should. It is the only truth.”

This was the quick check-out line. Now there were several customers lined up behind me. I won’t have time to say much more, Lord.

“I pray to God.” He looked up.

“Well, every time you pray, you better ask God if Jesus is His Son. And you need to listen because when He comes, it will be too late for you to believe.”

Suddenly his eyes were so fixed on me that he could not serve the customer behind me.

I’ve never seen anyone look at me as he did. What went through his heart? Truth? Offense?

“Abba, Father, thank you for the opportunity not only to reap but also to sow. Jesus, send your laborers to this man who has heard about You, that his soul may be reaped. By Your Holy Spirit, Lord, guide and lead their footsteps to him.”
