We finished speaking at a conference in Colorado. We were catching a flight. The plane was small. The flight attendant looked very professional and classy in her airline uniform.

And when she spoke over the intercom, her voice was kind.

Before we landed, she wished everyone a good day and said, “God bless you.” Since that was not the usual message, as we were deplaning, I thanked her and told her that I liked that she said, “God bless you.” She smiled and thanked me, too.

As I continued to walk out of the plane, I felt that I should have given her a big hug. My heart longed to encourage her, but it was too late to go back. With my heart yearning to hold her, I felt I had missed the opportunity.

In the airport, 20 gates away from our flight, we noticed a rather unique tea place. We had to go to the back of the place to find seats, which were hidden from the main walkway of the airport. There were windows where we could view the sky and the runways. We sat down and began to enjoy the place.

My husband turned around and said, “Hello.” I turned around to see who it was. It was our flight attendant! I noticed that she did not purchase anything. She simply walked in and walked out. I wanted to give her a big hug. I took off running into the main airport walkway after her. “Excuse me! Excuse me!” I yelled.

She turned around, surprised to see me running to her. I grabbed her and gave her the biggest hug! “I just had to hug you!” I said. She looked into my eyes. “When I saw you on the plane, I could see in your eyes that you were a very different woman and I could see in them that you were very sweet,” she said. Her eyes looked dark and oppressed.

“Do you know Jesus?” I asked her. “Uh-huh,” she said, knotting her head yes. Somehow, though, I didn’t think that she knew Jesus as her Savior. “Have you ever prayed and asked Him to be your Savior?” I asked.

She looked into my eyes and again said, “I can see in your eyes that you are a different woman and very sweet.”

I told her, “I can see in yours, that you have not come all the way in.”

She looked down in shame and then into my eyes. She seemed to be in deep confusion and darkness. She seemed very oppressed. Then she looked into my eyes again. Her eyes filled with tears.

“Let’s pray now.” I said. She held on to my hands tightly. She closed her eyes and bowed her head. In the middle of the airline hub with people packed beside us as they walked by, we prayed and she gave her life to Christ. She lifted her head and opened her eyes and thanked me with a big smile. I gave her my name and contact information. She told me her name. I looked in her eyes. They were bright, clean and full of joy!

I said, “Your eyes look great now!” She gave me a big smile. We gave each other a tight hug and she went on her way. Free from confusion and oppression, there was peace in her entire being because she had believed in Jesus as her personal Savior.

“Abba, Father, how is that my heart was beating to hug that woman? How is that in that hidden tea place, 20 gates away from where we disembarked, this woman walked in?

“Abba, my heart sings for joy to know that you speak so specifically to one’s heart about another heart because You are after the soul. Messiah, my song exults You for You ordain the footsteps of a lost soul to one who knows You, that Salvation in You maybe known!

“Messiah, even when we were hidden, nothing is hidden to You. Lover of souls, Your Spirit alone lights the way of one in darkness into the light that frees them, You, JESUS!”
